Should a Glass Wear Lipstick?

Well, no.  (It's called lipstick for a reason!)

Before sitting to a fantastic glass of ice tea or water at your favorite restaurant, be sure to 'blot' your lips!  We don't want this to happen (view pic!).....

When passing the salt and pepper to individuals, remember this tip:

Dining Etiquette - What if my Food is Way to Hot!

It happens, especially in winter. We order soup or coffee; and it is scolding hot. Our director says, 'I was eating soup from a resturant and felt the tears because the soup was so hot!'

Here's what to do if you are in that situation:

1. If you have a cold beverage around, take a quick sip.
2. If no cold beverages are around, and your getting teary eyed, you can politely remove the food with fork or spoon and place on the side of your plate.

One rule of thumb, let your food sit for a bit if you notice smoke (common with soups and coffee). Blowing on food is considered inappropriate.

Chilly weather brings on tea and coffee! How to drink tea properly??

When tea is served in a cup/saucer - place the spoon on the side of the saucer (as with the tea bag).

Tip: When served as a hot beverage; always remove the spoon from the mug. If a saucer is not available, place spoon on bread plate.

How to Be a Bad Holiday Guest (and How to Avoid it!)!

The holidays are approaching, many of us will be off visiting family as well as the families of our significant others!

Imagine, you sit down to your meal, grab the salt shaker, and pour the salt on.

What's wrong with that picture? Always, always taste your food before salting! Salting food before tasting implies that the chef (or host of the holiday party) doesn't know how to season a dish. (Translation, it's an insult!)

Butter and Bread? There's more etiquette to this?

Here is what we hope everyone knows!

1. Break bread into small pieces (one at a time) before buttering.
2. Break bread into small pieces (one at a time) before dipping in olive oil.

But here is what we want you to know as well! When using the knife to butter the bread, rest the knife on the bread plate throughout the meal. The dirty utensil should not touch the table!

Table Setting - Which one of these is Mine?

Forget about 'Which one of these forks is mine?' when sitting down at the table. Remember this quick tip!

Spell out the word FORKS. Sit in your chair. Look at your place setting from left to right. Fork (F), plate (O – it’s shaped like an O), knife (K), and spoon (S). (FYI - Drop the R).

Will you Please Pass the Salt?

When asked to pass the salt, pick up both the salt and the pepper and to place them on the table to the person next to you. (if the requesting individual is on the other end of the table, it would be passed down as stated above). Salt and pepper is not passed hand-to-hand.

An easy tip to remember on not separating salt and pepper is 'salt and pepper are married, not divorced.'

A lovely marriage of Mr. and Mrs. Salt and Pepper!
