Introduction Etiquette? Sit or Stand??

Rising to greet someone is very respectful; but sometimes we get the question - Do we really need to do this?

Yes!  Stand when you can, especially when:

• The person is older than you are.
  
• The person has a special respect (example, dean and alumnae)
  
• You are meeting someone for the first time.
  

A quick note - if someone leaves the room and returns, the diners do not need to stand when they return!
